Examples of understated style?

How is it different from basics, classic or minimalism? Is it different?

Is it something that is more projected by a personality or by the things you wear? (What I mean is for example, gamine style is something that is highly dependent on your personality. You can wear the same thing that Audrey Hepburn wears and end up being classic or plain or androgynous and not gamine-ish though I'm still trying to figure out why.)

Hi!

I have always dressed really 'cute' and vintage... always like a sailor (I've loved nautical for years and years), or very French, or Victorian with lots of lace and smock dresses. I've always bought anything with a peter pan collar or bows, worn ribbons in my hair, cutesy floral prints, Mary Jane shoes, vintage dresses and kitsch t shirts from lazyoaf.com.

I'm getting kind of sick of it now (especially as that style is ALL over the high street) and feel like I would like to update my style a little, and dress a little more maturely - but have no idea how? I used to live in ballet flats but have bought a few nice pairs of court shoes, and have a gorgeous pair of sand coloured peg leg chinos on their way to me. I'm trying to just buy really good jersey basics like a slouchy grey marl tee, loose blazers - I've also picked up a couple of pencil skirts/dresses for work.

I really love Alexa Chung and have been following/copying her for years, but I can't really dress like that for work and would like to look a little more Audrey/Jane Birkin. I love shops such as French Connection, Reiss and Warehouse, the kind of classy style that looks elegant and chic. You know the kind of clothes you see under the headline "loose tailoring"? No idea how to achieve it as I ALWAYS end up looking kiddy - I wore my new grey pencil shift dress with a nude blouse underneath (it had a peter pan collar) and someone in work said "you look like you're in school uniform"

My name is Agatha, and I've been reading this forum for some time. All I can say is that the content is great and the people are kind and helpful.

I don't know if you're anything like me, but I like to wear pantyhose, as long as they are of good quality. My peers don't do this, not as much at least, so I wonder if maybe other people on the forum would share my view. Wearing quality pantyhose often translates to comfort during the day, and good look on the leg.

When wearing skirts of all lengths, I often put some kind of pantyhose or tights, not only for warmth but also for a finished look and the sense of elegance they give me. I just feel better that way, except when I would wear a cheap brand, which I now avoid, as in the end I think it's generally a waste of money.

When wearing dress pants, I generally have 3 options, to go bare-legged underneath, or wear socks which is generally a comfortable experience, to wear cheap pantyhose - yuck! they cling so much! - or to wear good quality pantyhose, which not only will ensure the I have comfort and freedom of movement, but also give me a sense of elegance, even though my legs won't be showing.

I realized that I wear pantyhose quite a bit more than my peers, especially I think with pants, but I like it.

What do you think? Is there anyone else out there that shares my opinion? I hope there's more of us like that.

If you have never picked up a GT game title, i should tell you that this game build up at a moderate pace, it takes a decent amount of time to get used to the controls and to adapt to the game which can be a bit frustrating at times. This game was intentionally made to be this way.

Polyphony Digital does an amazing job at providing the gamer with the most accurate simulation you can find. For some people this means that they will either love or hate this game, this is no Midnight Club game or need for speed. If you are after a fast paced game with an arcade style racing then this game may not be for you. If you are after a racing game that is super realistic in its mechanics and love a challenge then this game is for you.

The game has a lot of complexity, after your skills start getting better and buy better and faster vehicles, this game will take up literally thousands, yes thousands of our to complete and it will leave you wanting more. The graphics in my opinion can compete with those of the early Xbox 360 titles, they are that good. The physics are greatly improved from those of the previous game, which means more realism and difficulty.

This is the best part, G-forces, tilt, roll are more accurate, and it is easier to loose control in high speed competitions, like in real life. One of the major flaws in this game is that the vehicles have no damage, that means that you can crash the cars driving at 100 miles per hour and there will be no notable damage. If the game did have damage to the cars, one would be more careful driving and would keep us from strategically banging off the walls and other vehicles to get ahead.

Forza Motor sport is a simulation racing game, Microsoft's answer to Gran Turismo which is exclusive to the PlayStation 3. I will give my thoughts on this game and from there you decide if Forza 3 is the right game for you.

If you want to experience what this game is like before buying it, you could download a demo from the Xbox live market place. When you do buy this game and pop it in the system, its going to ask you if you would like to install the extra content that comes on a second CD with you Forza 3 game.

The second CD contains over one hundred extra cars and some additional tracks, which takes up about 2 gigabytes of your hard drive. Even I you decide not to install the content you can still enjoy the game but you will miss out on a lot of cool stuff.

One of the best features this game has is a rewind button, for example, you are racing perfectly but you end up catching some gravel, you can rewind the race and undo your mistake.

The graphics are amazing, but keep in my that I have a high definition TV which makes it that much better, the game has a clean look to it, and the cars are detailed even to the grills. Just beautiful, you can tell the developers really put in the time, to designing every single car.

There are more cars in this game that you could ever name. While this game has about four hundred games total, some Gran Turismo fans may be disappointed because that game has about 1,000 cars. I don't think its a big deal, but honestly do you really need all those cars? The customization has been improved, that makes it simpler for designers to edit and share content online. Sometimes you will be amazed at the work that some of these guys do to the cars.

Splinter Cell - Conviction Review

Conviction is a game long awaited by fans of the Splinter Cell series. But is Conviction a true follow-up to Double Agent or is it, unlike its predecessors, a game of its own?

It is not difficult to find out. Just turn the game on, start a new game and you will understand what I am talking about. From the very first moment you will get your hands on Fisher, you will be introduced to Conviction's incredibly stylish world. The environment, the characters, the way the game goes black-and-white when Fisher is in a dark area, the objectives being displayed on various interfaces like walls or trucks all add to the games unique visual presentation.

Then there is the gameplay. Conviction differs greatly from the other Splinter Cell games. The most important difference is the stealth gameplay the series became famous and critically acclaimed for. In Conviction, there is a lot more shooting going on. Whether it is because it's the easiest way to go in a given situation, or because the bad guys detected you and all you can do is shoot, the game has a decent cover mechanic to let you unleash Fisher's wrath upon his enemies.

Of course, flying bullets isn't the only way to go in the game. With a clever use of the gadgets provided, you can set up traps, like remote mines, and greatly reduce the enemy's numbers to the point where you can just shoot those who were lucky enough to survive. It's not all that easy though. The more of their allies you kill, the more your enemies will be aware of your presence, to the point where you will not be able to lure them to your traps because the will be too frightened. The execution mechanic also adds a nice twist to the game. When Fisher executes someone though melee combat, he gains execution points. With them, you can mark enemies and let Fisher finish them through a stylish headshot.

Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker is an amazing game, for being portable. I am so amazed of what the developers can do with the PSP having such limited power, in fact if this game was in a game console and cost 60 dollars I would buy it in a heart beat. The Game play, graphics, sound and a well put together story in the palm of your hands is what you are going to get with this game. Unlike its previous game Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops the controls have been dramatically improved, so my guess is that the developers definitely learned from their previous mistakes.

Even though the PSP has only one analog stick, the developers found a way of making the controls easy to handle, you can pick this game up without worrying if that you might not like the controls and camera angles because they have all been fixed to perfection. If you have played portable ops, you may remember the feature that allows you to recruit soldiers, well they added that feature to Peace walker also, but it has been improved and more streamlined, therefore more enjoyable. One of my favorite parts of the game is that it allows you to modify and make your weapons more powerful, accurate and faster.

PHP is one of the top server side languages that any web developer needs to know about these days. If you are a web developer, chances are that you have spent most of your time working with HTML and Javascript, but if you want to truly create dynamic web pages, you need to learn server-side languages such as Ruby and PHP. And in order to get the most out of those languages, you need to learn a few side technologies as well. These languages may look tough at first, but scripting them becomes easier once you master the other technologies involved as well.

In order to master the art of PHP, you need to learn the following:

* Linux: experts may tell you that you don't need to know any linux to get started with this programming language. I'd like to program with the full knowledge of the environment I'll be working on. The more you know about Linux, the better you can use its features to program more effectively. And when you are stuck, you'll know what to do.
* Apache: learning linux may not be necessary, but you can't expect to get much done if you are no fluent in Apache. Whether you want to write a .htaccess file or just want to change the environment variable, it always pay to know what you are deal with.
* MySQL: you can't expect to write dynamic websites without knowing how to work with the database management systems. MySQL is the most popular open source DB solution on the market, and many startups and Web 2.0 companies are using it to add dynamic features. Not only should you be able to work with this package, you should also know enough SQL to write database queries for your website.
* HTML: if you don't know HTML, you should get started with it rightaway. You can know all the PHP in the world, but without the proper knowledge of HTML, you are going to get stuck sooner rather than later.
* CSS: knowing how to program is only one part of the equation. You should know CSS to design attractive layouts for your website. Without it, it'd be tough to create attractive websites.

Benefits Of Using C++..

Because C++ is an object-oriented programming language, it is designed to allow the
creation and manipulation of objects from the problem domain. Thus, C++ allows programmers
to operate at a higher level of abstraction. This higher level of abstraction allows programmers
to develop software in the language of the problem domain rather than in the language of the computer. The key to a good abstraction is deep knowledge of the problem domain. A good abstraction allows users to use an object in a relatively safe and predictable manner. It reduces the learning curve by providing a simple interface described in terms of the user's own vocabulary.

C++ is a multiparadigm language. This allows developers to choose the programming style that is right for the task at hand. For example, a traditional procedural style may be appropriate for performing a simple task such as writing the code within a small member function.

C++ software can be performance and memory efficient. For example, well-designed, object oriented software is normally comprehensible and therefore amenable to performance tuning. In addition, C++ has low-level facilities that allow a skilled C++ developer to obtain appropriate levels of performance.

C++ is backward compatible with C. This is useful in very large legacy systems where the migration to C++ normally occurs a few subsystems at a time rather than all at once. In particular, C++ backward compatibility makes it relatively inexpensive to compile C code with C++ compiler.

C++ is a huge language with a very broad base of users. This large user community has led to high quality compilers and other development tools for a wide range of systems.

     Ctrl+F - Find/Replace.
Ctrl+K - Find next -> Be careful, it is not F3, like many other applications.
Ctrl+L - Go to line -> Be careful, it is not Ctrl+G, like many other applications.
Ctrl+Space - Code completion. For example, if you type “do” and press Ctrl+Space, the IDE will display code template for “do while” loop. Furthermore, you can display a list of class member by pressing Ctrl+Space too. Normally, they are displayed when you type “.”, “->” or “::” after a member class variable. In some cases, you may need Ctrl+Space, for example when you move to another line and then come back to the previous line.
Ctrl+Shift+Up and Ctrl+Shift+Down - Go to the next or previous methods and/or functions.

Navigation
Ctrl+F6 - Navigate to the next file editor. This is always useful shortcut, especially when you are working with several files at the same time.
Ctrl+F7 - Navigate to the next view, for example you can switch from the file editor to file tree view.
Ctrl+F8 - Navigate to the next perspective, for example you can switch from the Symbian perspective to the Debug perspective.

Building and Running
Ctrl+B - Build the current project.
F11 - Debug the current project.
Ctrl+F11 - Run the current project.
Ctrl+. and Ctrl., - Go to the next and previous annotation. You may find this useful when you have several error messages from the compiler. You can use these shortcuts to walk through the list of error messages.

Debugging
Ctrl+Shift+B - Toggle breakpoint. Note that by default, you can only use this shortcut in the Debug perspective. To enable this in C/C++ perspective, do Window -> Customize perspective -> Commands -> Breakpoints.
F5 - Step Into.
F6 - Step Over.
