Hi All,
I just had a quick question to ask. I just got a PS3 this Christmas, one of the 60gb models. I was just going to update it since I know a lot of the updates allow for more compatibility with PS1 and PS2 games. However, a friend of mine recent;y told me that one of the newer updates will compromise some of the backwards compatibility. I wonder if this was true or not? Also, is there anything else I should know before updating? I'm doing my own research currently but figured it would not hurt to ask here as well. Thanks in advance.
As per my opinion, you should have to go the updates your PS3 driver. If you should have any types of the another version so that you can easily get this updates.
There is no risk if you upgrade your device by the new driver. But the thing you have to check is you should take the best driver setup and the setup will be done completely on the device. At that time you can use the further facilities by the newer version.
If you have a 60GB you essentially have a PS3 with a mini PS2 inside. 60GB Have something like 98% hardware based BC. No firmware has affected BC.
There is a very easy way to update your playstation 3 through PC or Disc. you should browse this update with PlayStation®3 System Software Update.
You might be able to demux it from the avi container, put it into an mkv container, then use mkv2vob to get it into a VOB that the PS3 can play. I do use with a fear of having a heart attack, every time any sound pops up i am scared.Even when i see any sorts of red light near the X360.
All right but I have some problem put my account on 5 ps3's and cannot download anything more, I can't get hold of anyone to deactivate my account... but I don't create a new account cos of my trophies. If I created an account for DLC will it work on my mixed out account.
Many PS3 users are faced with problems it has some shortcomings that the other consoles, but if you are looking for troubleshooting your PS3 that there is no reason to worry. Troubleshooting PS3 is not a big deal. with Internet you can easily solve any problems in your PS3.
Well from what I know, you shouldn't need to update it at all to play more games. The laser in that version should play them all out of the box as long as you have hdmi and av cords. (some games just cant play hd)
I am not sure if updating will compromise this but I highly doubt it
